Rootless Tree: 5-4-12

Rootless Tree

Damien Rice

Pivotal Song Quote

What I want from this
Is to learn to let go
No not of you
Of all that's been told

Time In My Life

This song frequented my playlist during a rather messy break up. At the time it fit perfectly and I wished I could relay the message... but I am glad I didn't. The smiles are worth more than the pain to me now!

My Take:

Personally, I feel like this song is a great representation of how one feels after having their heart broken by the person who helped make it whole. The stain that one leaves on the heart of another is quite possibly the most powerful force known to man... or woman. This stain is not easily washed away and sometimes never is. But the new relationships we forge and and memories we create help paint over it and erase the majority of the pain. One should never forget but needs to learn to let go.  As a "Rootless Tree" can never stand alone, and a broken heart can never beat on its own.

  2. I do like Damien Rice. Have you seen the opening sequence in the movie Closer when "The Blower's Daughter" plays as Natalie Portman and Clive Owens approach each other in slow motion? Incredible!

Damien sounds just a tad pissed off in this song LOL.

  5. I love that you are blogging! I have seen this video when you posted it on FB and was quite moved. I too have had my heart broken. I was married for 25 years and when he left I thought I would die. The pain is still there, I am very aware of it daily, but it doesn't run my life. I have grown and found so much more about myself, mentally and spiritually. There really is a big story there. Love you blog page! I will be stopping by often. Cynthia
